Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
Brought to you by LordSkunk.com and TeamSkunk.com
The SWGOH Tank Takedown Raid was released on Friday October 21st, 2016. This is the 2nd raid released by EA/CG for SWGOH. This raid has a much higher initial difficulty than the previous raid, The Pit. Tank Takedown, both normal and Heroic modes, will require guilds to coordinate and strategize even more to attain successful completion as well as your raid rewards, gear and most importantly your General Kenobi shards!
TeamSkunk is providing this guide to the sw:goh community as a guidebook for successful completion. Again, I want to stress, this is a very difficult raid in its current form and it will only be completed by guilds who take the required time and coordination. Do not be discouraged if, initially, you and your guild aren’t roflstomping this one like you did the Rancor.
Please be aware the below damage numbers and other content of this guide are estimates, guesstimations and theorycrafting. This guide WILL change as the TeamSkunk community completes additional raids, so I would recommend checking back often for updates. Also feel free to share this guide with your friends and guildmates. There is a share feature at the bottom of this page.
We also look at the best characters, team comps and mod options. Hero, squads and mods will be most effective at max level obviously, so if you have an alternate of similar type, use that instead.
If you are interested in joining a TeamSkunk Guild check out www.TeamSkunk.com as we have various guilds of all play levels and types.

COMPLETE SWGOH CHARACTER RANKING LIST*CLICK HERE TO VOTE NOW* NEW
Phase 1:
GUILD ATTACK PLAN:
Send in 1 team only, keep an eye on the health of the Boss and Discord chat. If you see an Officer announce to hold or retreat, pull out and wait to go in one at a time until Phase 1 is completed. This will be around 10-15 percent remaining health of the Boss. If you see the health of the Boss below 10 percent and no Officer has said anything, pause and let them know the Boss is below 10 percent health. Await further instructions.
- Estimated Phase Damage Required 4,300,000
- Each raid participant will attack with one team with a Goal Damage of 86,000 per participant
Suggested Teams
[Team by Aeriston]
Jedi Team:
Anakin (Lead), Qui-Gon Jinn, Aayla, Yoda, Ahsoka
Ima-Gun Di (Lead), Qui-Gon Jinn, Aayla, Yoda, Kit Fisto
Alternatives (possibly less effective)
Team: Anakin (Lead), Aayla, Ima-Gun Di, QGJ, Ewok Elder
Characters: Eeth Koth, Kit Fisto, Luminara Unduli, Ahsoka
Mods:
Offense, Speed, Potency
Player Attack Strategy:
Phase one is pretty simplistic, use Jedi’s, kill the B2 Super Battle Droid, cleanse & repeat. You want to start by hitting B2, get him low, but don’t kill him, General Grievous will revive him his first move if you kill him before Grievous’ first turn. You want to have yoda use tenacity up before Grievous goes his first turn. A good start is using QGJ assist and either having Ayala stun B2, or Yoda going and getting foresight. Reset, if possible, until you get the encounter to start like that. Stun the adds as often as possible. The goal is a minimum of 86k, but you should shoot for 200k here. If you do not get the desired results, and have time, simply retreat and try again for better RNG.
Phase 2:
GUILD ATTACK PLAN:
Send in 1 team only, keep an eye on the health of the Boss and Discord chat. If you see an Officer announce to hold or retreat, pull out and wait to go in one at a time until Phase 2 is completed. This will be around 10-15 percent remaining health of the Boss. If you see the health of the Boss below 10 percent and no Officer has said anything, pause and let them know the Boss is below 10 percent health. Await further instructions.
- Estimated Phase Damage Required 19,000,000
- Each raid participant will attack with one team with a Goal Damage of 380,000 per participant
Suggested Teams
[Team by Oodd B Narr]
Droid Team:
HK47 lead, IG88, IG86, Chief Nebit, Jawa Engineer
Alternatives (possibly less effective)
Wedge lead, Biggs, Lando, Phasma, STH
Alternatives: Rex instead of STH
![Date Date](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123703572/903473582.png)
Mods:
Crit chance, crit damage, speed
Player Attack Strategy:
Your goal here is to TOPPLE the Tank 3 times. You want to kill all 3 guns before the main tank goes to get two buffs. Usually you soften them up, wait for main gun to go, then clear them at the same time. Rinse and repeat that 2 more times for 700k plus damage. If you do not get the desired results, and have time, simply retreat and try again for better RNG.
Phase 3:
GUILD ATTACK PLAN:
Guild members should send in their A , B and C Teams using the guide below as suggested Team comps. Once done watch for Discord chat to see if a 4th and 5th team will be needed. If you see an Officer announce to hold or retreat, pull out and wait to go in one at a time until Phase 3 is completed. This will be around 10 percent remaining health of the Boss. If you see the health of the Boss below 10 percent and no Officer has said anything, pause and let them know the Boss is below 10 percent health. Await further instructions.
- Estimated Phase Damage Required 12,000,000
- Each raid participant will attack with three teams with a Goal Damage of 240,000 (3 teams @ 80,000 per team)
Suggested Teams
[Team by Oodd B Narr]
Chief Chirpa Lead, Royal Guard, Stormrooper Han, Emperor Palpatine, Sun Fac
Alternatives (possibly less effective)
Datcha lead, Jawa, Ugnaught, Stormtrooper Han Solo and Captain Phasma
Dathcha lead, Jawa, Jawa Scavenger, Chief Nebit, Jawa Engineer
A completed copy of all workflows used in the course (four). Alteryx designer 2018.2.5.48994 x64. At least three supplemental workflows using techniques learned in class. A PDF file of presentation slides used in the course.
Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Royal Guard, with additional Empire or possibly Sith
Ig88 Lead, Dathcha, Jawa, Jawa Scavenger, Darth Vader
Admiral Akbar, Princess Leia, Ugnaught, OG Han Solo
Tanks and high HP characters.
Player Attack Strategy:
Phase 3 is the most horrible phase of all! You want 3 tanks, ideally Stormtrooper Han, Royal Guard, Sun Fac, but Sun Fac can be replaced by any other tank or elder if you have to. The best strategy is to get Stormtrooper Han as fast as possible, ideally 232 speed, to go before the droids so he can taunt first and take all the hits speeding up Emperor Palpatine to attack faster. When Chirpa comes around you want to use his assist hoping he calls Emperor Palpatine. A lot of people will restart until they get that. You don’t want to taunt or buff yet with your tanks/buffers so you just basic attack a droid that isn’t the B2 boss. Emperor will continue to basic shock each droid getting faster and faster. If you get resisted on any shocks in the first 4 attacks, it’s recommended you retreat and start again. On the 5th and 6th shock EP will basically freeze everyone’s Turn Meter. You then basic down the boss over and over again. If Stormtrooper Han is still alive, and he should be, he will still be giving Turn Meter. It is this time that you taunt and buff with your other tanks before they become completely frozen. If any other character, besides Emperor Palpatine, goes they need to buff or basic the boss. You don’t want to kill any driod adds or you ruin it. You then go as far as possible with EP until he is dead. Ideal mods are crit avoidance/protection and defense on the tanks. You want high crit/damage on Emperor Palpatine and defensive mods as well to keep him surviving as long as possible. If you do not get the desired results, and have time, simply retreat and try again for better RNG.
Phase 4
Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes Reset Galaxy
GUILD ATTACK PLAN:
Zerg Baby!
- Estimate Phase Damage Required 12,000,000
- Each raid participant will attack with all remaining teams with a Goal Damage of 240,000 (3 teams @ 80,000 per team)
Suggested Teams
[Team by Alpha Mol Eliza]
Wedge Antilles lead, Rex, Captain Phasma, Biggs Darklighter and Lando Calrissian
Alternatives (possibly less effective)
Whatever else you have left!
Player Attack Strategy:
You will want to send a decent team in first (Example: Rey, Jedi’s, GS) and kill the two B2 Super Battle Droids and top cannon. After that, die and send in Droids or Wiggs and focus on the Tank only, DON’T TOPPLE! Once that team dies, send in your next best team and rinse and repeat. As long as you don’t topple you can keep hitting without worrying about those pesky B2 Super Battle Droids. If you do happen to topple the Tank from AOE damage, make sure all your characters are buffed. An airstrike will damage your whole team for massive damage if you aren’t buffed once it gets back up from topple. Also the B2 droids will ress. If you do not get the desired results, and have time, simply retreat and try again for better RNG.

It's not a bad idea, but that would be a free, 'become a GA master overnight' but in right now.
It will never happen, most likely because many old players would end up with such a stock pile even rare gear would be right at our fingertips for a long time.
The game will always be about long term planning and living with the hard choices we all had to make. Even a 1 time reset will kind of undermine that.

Well you have the option of just starting over because this won't ever happen..

Keep in mind that most of this are investments for which you have already got the payoff. This would give you back whatever you have invested to get legendaries, for example. Or what you invested into past metas, which gave you better placement and extra crystals at the time. Of course, there can be some genuine mistakes as well, but I would be in favor of the option to ungear/unlevel a number of individual characters, rather than a wholesale reset.

I'd even be ok if they gave you the option of turning back 5 characters back, This way maybe you could use what you spent on someone you really need to focus on currently.

Since the rewards are the same regardless of GP, it seems like a sensible thing to do..

Love the idea, I’d be super interesting to see what everyone would do. But Kynos got a good point.

I don't think that'll ever happen for the vast majority of peoples rosters etc. However with the recent introduction of Grand Arena which brings in the issue of higher overall GP as a potentially bad thing it would be great if they would either allow us to undo the levelling to say all Characters under Level-55 or to change the GA match-making to ignore in the calculations any character under 6k Power (kind of like TW does) so that useless characters that were never fully levelled or geared etc. in a past time when it didn't matter aren't pushing you into a higher GP bracket now that it does matter.

I think a toned down version of the concept should be pushed forward. Something with a cost to keep it from being exploited too much. My idea is:
Pay 100 crystals reset a char to gear level 7 and remove all gear above level 7, Omega abilities, and Zeta abilities. 100% of gear and Zetas are returned. 70% of omegas are returned, credits and tier 3 ablity mats are all lost.

.., credits and tier 3 ablity mats are all lost.
The two things in your list that are easiest to get?
I'd rather see people be able to reset, but everything invested is gone. Poof. Zeta mats, omega mats, gear, etc. You got to use it once and reap the rewards. You don't get to double dip. And if you reset any toon you needed to unlock something, you lose that unlock.
Reset the vets? Bye JTR.
Reset phoenix? Bye Thrawn.
Reset Farmboy Luke? Bye CLS.

I don't have JTR yet, but CLS AND thrawn we're mostly gear 8 chars with minimal omegas and no Zetas for me. So I am not sure how well your double dip argument holds up.
I am thinking of it mostly as paying a fee to move Zetas around. Maybe put the ability as a weekly shipment to slow people down.
Have to work out so there won't be someone with Traya and Revan in the under 1 million bracket.

I'd be more in favor of this if it were you can select like 3 toons and completely dismantle them back to lvl1 and you get all the mods and gear they had.

Well those characters needed to be 7*, 80-85, G8, with some omegas, yeah? If you reset those toons, then you no longer have the necessary strength to unlock.
Maybe factory reset should be taken literally - as in level 1, all toons re-locked, all events reset.

I could see it as a possibility if there were a cost - it’s alreay being done with mods for example. But the cost would likely need to be heavy to ensure that the decision isn’t taken lightly. I think mods get refunded at about 40% of their cost when sold? Maybe the same thing with an across the board reset? For every 10 zetas you had, you can now have 4. Every 10 level 5 stun guns, etc etc. You’d probably have to exclude character shards though, because I don’t think we want any 4-star CLSes or JTRs or Revans running around. But I get the impression that shards weren’t being considered in this idea originally anyway.

I would go for it if we could have the option to remove a piece of gear from a character for a minimal crystal cost (50?) in order to use it on a different character. Specifically because there are characters (like vets) that are one time use, then basically terrible afterwards. And it would be nice to at least be able to take off the purple gear to move it to other characters.
I don't think you should be able to lower their gear level, so if they are g9, you can strip the gear off them, but you wouldn't be able to get them down to g8. This would prevent people from reducing their rosters to g1 for characters they don't use in order to basically p2w in GA

CG shouldn't do it and here's why. Yes it would make allot of people happy, but also would upset people doing well in the game because they built correctly for it. So essentially it's just a bad idea.

I would like to see a reset this character for say 250 crystals to gear 12, 200 for gear 11, 150 for gear 10, 100 for gear 9 and 50 for 8 and below. If you do this to a character who was used in a legendary event, it would open up that event up to that tier and check if you can still do it. For example, you gear down st han, you do the final tier of cls to check if you can get him. If you can’t, you can cancel gearing down or loose cls

I'm stil a nub and do noobish things, but this feels as if people want to strip toons like ewoks etc now they got chewy and dont need their ewok team zeta'd.
Only thing i want is more shards for the older toons. I've been working on Sabine for a year now and am still 51/100. Shame i was able to farm MT and Zombie faster. But it is sadly what it is.

IDK Kyno, I played another game for a very long time where such a thing was possible. When Dev changes were made to significant character equipment and character skill calculations, all players across the board were given a free skilling reset to allow the community to respond to those changes. Because gameplay was set up in such a way where an experienced player had very little possibility of exploiting a beginner due to their player score (much like our GP here, as well as experience level), it really transferred nicely and everyone left the change relatively happy. There were even standing premium pay and game cash options that allowed universal reskilling.
I think we've had two occasions I can recall where zetas were refunded due to major character changes, and I think the public as whole would take a lot of the meta shifts in better stride if they were given more opportunity to react to these things in such a manner. I would bet the vast majority of the game public would be more willing to pay $20+ real dollars for total ability mat or gear refund than they are for some of the stuff that gets peddled in the shops.

I think at most we may someday have the ability to remove/break apart a piece of gear and hop to get a decent number of mats from it - not the number needed to rebuild it but some of them-

EA could make money off this. Think tree resets. 1st is free 2nd is 200 crystals. Third is 500. 4th is 1000 5th 2500. 45 bucks right there.

With the price point we see for many things in this game, $20 ish may not even cover a single toon 'reskill'.

This right here.
Some people have an advantage because they have been making right choices for 3 years, this would just be soul crushing to those players.
That a a good point and I didnt think about it like that before. The people with the least to benefit from this, suffer the most after making the 'best choices'.

If someone wants to reskill and make better choices.. start an alt. I think many people do when they realize they've made poor decisions.

Not 100% accurate. There are characters that have been geared up and maybe a zeta put on them because a year ago they were relevant. Now that the meta has shifted or more powerful characters have come out, the previous character isn't as useful. So in that case it isn't about poor choices, but the evolution of the game. I put a zeta on Qui Gon, now Bastila is the go to leader of the jedi team.

Fun idea. But not good for business so, fair enough, it won't happen.
I think i'd invest everything into about 20 characters..no more.
I wouldn't have a 7 Star K2SO

The Galactic War is a challenging survival round kind of battle. Much like the arena battles, you get to fight different opponents, but your character’s health and cooldowns carry on to the next battle. If a character dies, he or she will be unavailable until the time resets. As a beginner, you won’t have many characters to use, so we will be going over the best characters to use here for newbies.
Why You Should Always Participate in Galactic War Daily
The key reasons why you should do this are:
- You get rewarded with credits and ability mk 1, 2 and 3 depending on your progress
- You get to earn war tokens, which you can exchange them for shards of various characters
- Further build your character pool
Here are the available character shards for you to earn in the Galactic War Shipments(takes 400 tokens each and you earn 5 shards):
- IG-86 Sentinel Droid
- Resistance Pilot
- Dathcha
- Luminara Unduli(Top Priority)
- Tusken Raider
- Poggle the Lesser(Recommended)
- Captain Phasma(Recommended)
- Nightsister Initiate
- Teebo
- Briggs Darklighter
General Galactic War Tips
- All characters will have the same health and cooldowns for the next battle. So save your cooldowns when you are almost done with the fight. Blow all your cooldowns at the start of the battle.
- You can retreat if you know the battle isn’t in your favor during any of your character’s turn.
- It is vital to bring 3 healers to ensure everyone is healthy for the next round
- Eventually, you will want to build 2 teams to tackle GW as you will face stronger and stronger enemies as you progress.
- Retreating will reset the entire battle as well now. Check out this source: EA Forums (You can still bring fodders to burn enemy cooldowns, but you need to let the whole team die)
BONUS Tip by Fan48:
After getting a kill, if your team’s health is all green, retreat to use it as a save state. When you go back in, all buffs and debuffs are gone, but everyone’s turn meter is full, health is the same, and the enemy you killed is still gone.
If someone on your team dies, close the app without retreating, and they’ll be alive again when you go back in.
You will meet all kinds of teams here, but most of the time, you will meet a lot of Chewbaccas, Jedi Consulars and Talia. If you are new and only unlocked Galactic War at level 40, you most likely will have very limited characters. Here are the characters you will end up using initially:
- Chewbacca
- Talia
- Jedi Consular
- Any attacker(I recommend Luke Skywalker, who is easily farmable)
- Any support/tank(Most likely Poe Dameron since he is free)
With Talia and Jedi Consular being your only healers, it is very crucial that you try to keep them healthy at all times. If any of the members die at any stage of Galactic War, you will be unable to carry on due to lack of sustain. That brings us to the next useful monster – Chewbacca! A lot of people don’t like him because he doesn’t provide damage. However, he is useful in GW due to the taunt and a heal to follow up with it. This will put pressure off your healers for a bit while their skills are on cooldown.
Since these 3 are already free, we will talk about what you need to do with them. Cyber security pro free licence keys. They are all farmable characters, so upgrading them is extremely easy.

As for JC, get his Jedi Healing skill to as high as possible. Also make sure to Saber Strike to level 3 so he will have 25% change to reduce his skill’s cooldown by 1. This is vital and will help if you REALLY need it in tight situations. His 3rd skill Attack as Defense also becomes quite good once it can ignore defense 25% of the time. All in all, you should try to farm his shards as much as possible to make him stronger. His gear is very easy to get, so please upgrade it to gear 7 as soon as possible. He is vital to your progress in GW.
Farming Spots: Light Side 1-B, Dark Side 1-D, Dark Side 3-C, Holotable 3-A[Recommended if you can do it]
Talia
Now Talia becomes really strong once you are able to get her draining strike heal percentage to 50%. This will make her Water of Life AoE heal more safe to use. She also does good damage with her special harrowing assault. Try to upgrade her skills to as high as her level allows it. Also be sure to upgrade her gear since the parts are quite easy to get. You just need to be patient and farm up the necessary stages.
Farming Spots: Light Side 2-D, Light Side 2-F, Holotable Battle 1-G[Recommended]
Chewbacca
For him, make sure to upgrade his gear to at least level 4 to unlock his 4th skill. He needs the 35% self heal to be an effective taunter. Otherwise, he will easily get gun downed after. For his skills, upgrade Wookie Rage to level 3, Defiant Roar to level 3 for the 1 turn cooldown reduction. I made the mistake of leveling the Leader Skill Wookiee Resolve, which isn’t as important. Getting him to 4 star will also help with his tankiness.
Farming Spots: Dark Side 2-C, Holotable 1-C[Recommended]
Other Helpful Characters
Now the odds of you pulling another healer from the crystals you earn are quite low, so I have listed other characters that people get along the way that will be useful.
Healers
- Old Daka – Available from Squad Cantina shipments for 400 cantina credits. She has AoE heal and small chance of revive. Very useful. Try to get her asap.
- Luminara Unduli – You are very lucky to get her early on. Her heal and damage is really good and she will help you sustain your team alongside Jedi Consular. Get it from Galactic War Shipment for 400 credits. She should be the first one you focus on if you want to always succeed in beating all stages in GW. Captain Phasma can wait. ?
- Barriss Offee – You can get her now from the night sisters package if you are willing to spend $50 USD. Otherwise, if you got her from data cards, then her equalizing heal will really keep your low health characters alive. She also has a small regen heal when you get her leader skill to level 3. That helps as well.
Support/Tank/Damage Dealers
- Luke Skywalker – Easily farmable from Squad Cantina 1-B and does good damage. Recommended as a damage dealer unless you pull Kylo Ren, Count Dooku, Anakin or Mace Windu.
- Count Dooku – Deals tonnes of damage to Jedi’s and stuns them. Plus COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER… Enough said. Keep him alive and he will keep dealing damage.
- Kylo Ren – The anti-healing debuff will destroy JC and any other healer’s effectiveness. You are really lucky to pull him.
- Mace Windu – Tanky and deal tonnes of damage.
- Poggle The Lesser – Available in GW, this guy does well in a droid team(HK-47, IG-88, IG-86 and 2 healers).
- Darth Sidious – Goes well with high critical characters like IG-88 and Luke Skywalker. You can get him from Arena shipments. The anti-healing debuff destroys healers. He is also much easier to get compared to Kylo Ren.
- Stormtrooper Han – Works well with other healers to keep him alive. He gives you turn control and also more turns. That means more heals and damage. He is available to collect via Arena Shipments.
I will be adding more details when I can consistently complete GW successfully.
